About the awning:
These LED-325 awnings provide 7.5 square meters of rain and sun protection. They measure 2.5M along the length of the car and extend 3.0 M from the car. The end poles are also adjustable with solid twist locks up to 2.1M.
We had a choice of alloy or flexible joints in the awning and from experience we knew that flexible joints were better and longer lasting. When your awning is hit by the inevitable wind gust that picks it up into the air, inflexible alloy joints will bend the backplate destroying the awning in the process. Our flexible joints will flex and not break so that when the wind subsides simply move the poles back to their proper position and you’re ready to go again. No damage.
The LED-325 also has a sail track that runs the entire length of the end plate and the base plate so you can tie together tents, tarpaulins or mosquito nets.
About the light:
The super bright light strip runs the full 2.5M length of the awning backplate and is angled to provide a wide spread of directed light under the awning. We use 5050 LEDs which are brighter, larger and more energy efficient that their cheaper counterparts. The light strip is channel mounted allowing for future lighting upgrades when they become available by swapping out the old light strip and switching in a new one. The light strip is powered by a fused 12v cigarette lighter adapter (supplied) and is exceptionally efficient. The lights are waterproof however the electrical connectors need to be handled with care.
Colours?
The lights are primarily white but they also have 16 preset colours including
White – For normal outdoor activities
Red – Perfect for maintaining your night vision
Yellow – Bugs and mosquitos are less attracted to a yellow light. They aren’t repelled by a yellow light but yellow attracts fewer bugs. When you are near bugs you really don’t want to run a pure white light as to many flying insects, white light is a beacon saying “come here”.
Dimming?
If the brilliant 60 per metre 5050 leds are just too bright, which they usually are, then they can be dimmed all the way to off so you can set the perfect amount of light under your awning. There’s also a remote so if you are comfortably positioned you can simply switch the awning off or change its mode without getting up or opening the car.
Disco mode?
We use the awning colours to keep away bugs and protect our night vision but the awnings can also operate in four different colour changing modes. It has strobe, fade, flash and smooth. In these modes the awning cycles through hundreds of colours which is something fun for the kids or for new years eve and christmas camping.
